Now looking at burgers, they are not all alike. You could have your fast food burger at any joint for a deal a meal type of thing and not know what your eating. Now Banff has a new little hidden gem called Eddie Burger & Bar. Located next to Hoodoo Night Club, Eddie’s has made a big leap in having your a burger from names like the Aussie burger (should appeal to the Aussie masses that work in Banff) or the Buffalo Burger, Lamb Burger and more. My choice was the Sal Polizzi Burger. Sal is the Executive Chef of the Maple Leaf Grille & Lounge next door and so it goes he’s got a signature burger with all sorts of wonderful fillings. You can even custom order your burger with selection of meats from Kobe Beef, lamb, bison and choice of buns to fillings. I’m not telling you any more about the burger, because I want you to go and try it and tell me what you think. I had a poutine with that which is Quebec’s invention to gravy fries and cheese curds. I grew up eating it in Montreal, so had to have it. Their onion rings are the best I’ve tasted, not to mention their fries. The available drinks , beers and of course their wines which are safely hidden behind a glass cabinet that prevents oxygen from getting into the wine and keeping it fresh like it was just opened. By the glass or by the bottle a great selection of wines. The servie was excellent and the ski flicks playing on the screen was a nice touch for those of us that like to watch the tube. One great addition for those of us that like to watch MMA, they are a licensed to show UFC and the place is packed! So looking for an amazing burger, great wines and a little fight ( on TV), then Eddie’s is the choice in Banff.

Maple Leaf Grille & Lounge
The Maple Leaf has become a must go to restaurant while in Banff. One of the latest things they have taken on is the way they try to be ecologically friendly. They have eliminated placing baskets of bread that are thrown away daily, instead you have the option of ordering it off the menu which for many calorie crunching people this is a sigh of relief. As I heard one guest say ” now instead of having all that bread I can have glass of that port after dinner!”

Ticino’s Swiss Italian restaurant is having a 2 for 1 entree special until January 29, 2009.

Ice Carving Festival
This weekend 24 & 25 of January is the Ice carving festival in Lake Louise . If you haven’t seen these fantastic creation, you should! Carvers from everywhere hit the back of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in this event. If you miss it, you can always come and check out the sculptures while they are still standing ( depending on weather) Makes for some fantastic pictures with the mountains in the back ground.

So the world of the internet is not just here , but it has taken over our lives in amazing ways. One of those is that the regular person on the street no longer has to turn on their TV , but can turn on their laptop and watch the lates , greatest stuff on the tube.
